As the only important node city of the Western Land Sea New Corridor in Hunan, Huaihua has opened up seven international logistics channels, including Beibu Gulf Port, Guangzhou Port, Shenzhen Port, Zhanjiang Port, China Laos, China Vietnam, and China Myanmar, by building channels and platforms in recent years. It has also opened 140 international and domestic transportation routes, connecting trade with 119 countries and regions including ASEAN, Europe, and America, attracting 70% of the goods from the Western Land Sea New Corridor to go south to ASEAN. From January to July this year, the total import and export volume of Huaihua increased by 55.3% year-on-year, ranking first in Hunan Province in terms of growth rate.
Huaihua is a city dragged by a train. In the 1970s, with the opening of the Hunan Guizhou and Zhiliu railways and their intersection in Huaihua, the influx of people and logistics brought about the development of Huaihua from a small town of over 3000 people into a commercial and trade city "dragged" by trains. Huaihua, which has tasted the sweetness of developing transportation, continues to accelerate the weaving of a three-dimensional transportation network and develop into an important railway hub city in China.
In 2019, the Overall Plan for the Western Land Sea New Corridor was released, positioning Huaihua as an important node city on the main channel of "Chongqing Huaihua Liuzhou Beibu Gulf", and the only one in Hunan Province. Relying on the Western Land Sea New Corridor and the newly built Huaihua West Marshalling Station, the largest marshalling yard in the southwest region, Huaihua International Land Port has emerged. On September 13, 2021, Huaihua International Land Port officially started construction. In May 2022, the Hunan Provincial Party Committee and the Hunan Provincial Government issued the Implementation Plan on Deeply Integrating into the "the Belt and Road" to Support the Construction of Huaihua International Dry Port, giving Huaihua a new position and mission of "building a strategic gateway city for a new land and sea channel in the west" and the only ASEAN freight gathering center in the province, and making it clear that Huaihua International Dry Port will become a landmark project for Hunan to build a highland for reform and opening up in the inland region.

Hunan Houde Logistics Co., Ltd. is an enterprise involved in the freight collection and transportation of trains on the Western Land Sea New Corridor. With the platform built by the Western Land Sea New Corridor, the company's business has developed rapidly. Last year, it established a supply chain company in Laos and actively participated in the collection and transportation of goods for the China Laos freight trains. Our goods were originally transported by Yangtze River water to Shanghai Port, and then transferred to Southeast Asia, South Asia and other places. Now, they are shipped to Beibu Gulf Port in Guangxi through Huaihua International Land Port, shortening the time by nearly a week, "said Mo Bin, the company's person in charge." The increase in international freight train capacity has driven the sustained growth of Huaihua's import and export trade scale. At present, Huaihua has established trade relations with 119 countries and regions including ASEAN, Europe and America. In the first half of this year, Huaihua's imports of antimony concentrate, cassava starch, and exports of agricultural products and bags maintained high-speed growth. Among them, the export of luggage increased by 140%, and the export of agricultural products such as vegetables and fruits increased by 54.4 times.
Relying on Huaihua International Land Port, Huaihua also brings imported goods from ASEAN and Europe and America to its doorstep. Entering the Land Port No.1 Warehousing Preferred Member Store, neatly arranged shelves are filled with high-quality and affordable goods. The store manager, Mo Yingxun, introduced that nearly 3000 cross-border products from more than ten countries are gathered here. Since its opening in January this year, the number of members has reached 16000, and the project operation has driven employment for 600 people, with an expected annual turnover of over 150 million yuan.
Cultivate port related industries
The reporter learned that in order to promote the high-quality development of e-commerce (cross-border), Huaihua has built a cross-border network channel, supporting platforms such as the ASEAN Cross border E-commerce Incubation Platform and Huaihua International Land Port Cross border Independent Station, established a cross-border e-commerce supervision center, and set up overseas warehouses in ASEAN countries such as Vietnam and Laos, basically forming a complete and functional cross-border e-commerce service system. On June 13th, Huaihua International Land Port (Cross border) E-commerce Industrial Park opened, with the first batch of 10 enterprises already settled in. From January to July this year, the total import and export volume of Huaihua was 7.59 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 55.3%, of which the cross-border e-commerce export volume was 193.3 million yuan, a year-on-year increase of 11.6 times.
