Latest (10.9) Production and Market Situation of Cassava and Starch in Vietnam

Last week, first of all, in terms of production, as of October 8th, there were about 57 starch factories in operation (week on week+12), and starch production continued to increase significantly week on week. The supply of raw materials in the southern and central regions has continued to increase compared to the previous week, while potato prices in the southern and central regions have fluctuated and fallen, while prices in the northern region remain stable; At present, the average production time per week in starch factories is 4.0 days (+0.2 days compared to last week); The purchase prices for fresh potato raw materials are as follows: 3000-3100 VND/kg in the southern region (-150 VND/KG compared to last week, with local potatoes at a 30% reduction in flour content), 2900-3000 VND/kg in the central region (-150 VND/KG compared to last week, with a 30% reduction in flour content), and there are not many factories operating in the northern region. Potato prices are not stable and will not be quoted temporarily. Secondly, in terms of the market, due to the continuous weak demand in the Chinese market and the fluctuating prices of cassava raw materials, the export market of cassava starch in Vietnam has shown a stable but slightly declining trend, with prices still closing at a slight decrease. The latest quotes for mainstream brands are (Qingdao Port CIF): low-end products 450-460 (-3), ordinary products 460-470 (-3), and high-quality products 470-480 (-3) (USD/ton).
