The price of cassava has collapsed! Thailand urgently seeks help from China!
Recently, Thai Minister of Commerce Pichai revealed that he has urged relevant departments and institutions to urgently coordinate with China to help purchase Thai cassava products. He also hopes that the Thai Animal Feed Producers Association will increase its procurement quantity and order the Ministry of Commerce to open up new markets for cassava and products in advance.
Pichai stated that in addition to government assistance to farmers and coordination with relevant organizations, the Department of Foreign Trade of the Ministry of Commerce is also urgently expanding the channels for cassava exports, targeting potential markets such as Mexico, Chile, the Philippines, and Indonesia, and accelerating the development of new cassava product forms to create higher value-added export products.
In addition, the Ministry of Commerce also plans to organize activities between the government and the private sector in Shanghai and Chengdu, China, before January 5-9, 2025, to expand the downstream market of Thai cassava products. It is expected that it will create market demand of more than 1 million tons for Thai cassava industry entrepreneurs before the Chinese Spring Festival, and accelerate the promotion of cassava products into the Chinese market and into new trade industries that have not yet set foot in cassava, such as animal feed, glue, paper, sweeteners, citric acid and other industries to import Thai cassava.
