据报道，总投资1000余万元的海南昌江雄伟淀粉厂近日建成。
该厂位于红田农场附近、昌江高速公路出口不远处，全厂占地面积30亩；一年开榨一次，一个榨季6个月左右。该厂目前处于试产阶段，正式投产后，可日榨木薯400吨，日产淀粉100吨。
据悉，倘若木薯原料充足，工厂每天都可进行生产，榨季也相对延长，估计今年可榨木薯2万多吨，生产淀粉5000吨，总收入约1000万元以上。产品主要销往香港、广州、深圳等国内发达城市。
据淀粉厂负责人介绍，公司非常注重环保与当地农民增收，光是建氧化池进行污水处理就投入了300余万元。工厂生产所需要的木薯全部来源于当地，为了保证货源，他们鼓励、发动各农场和农户种植木薯，并向农户承诺每吨300元的保护价，且不打白条，今年当地各农场及农户已种植木薯1万余亩。
