菲律宾东方石油公司旗下的东方可再生能源公司今年将向中国广西省出口1万公吨的木薯，用于当地的乙醇生产。
东方石油公司总经理马丁内斯（FernandoL.Martinez）说，这些木薯将分两批向广西出口，第一批5000公吨将于今年6月前运达，另外5000公吨则将于11月前运达。东方可再生能源公司将从该项出口中获得60万美元的收益。
马丁内斯说，2009年东方可再生能源公司有望向广西出口4万公吨的木薯，届时的收益将达到600万美元。为此，该公司需要将木薯的种植面积扩大到3500公顷。
马丁内斯说，农民每种植1公顷的木薯，就可获得4万公斤的收成，这些木薯能生产6000公升的乙醇。
