上海辰山植物园（中国科学院上海辰山植物科学研究中心）能源植物生物技术组研究人员利用高通量测序技术研究了受非洲木薯花叶病毒（African cassava mosaic virus）侵染木薯的全基因组水平转录响应，表明光合作用相关的通路所受影响最大，特别是叶绿素降解相关基因明显上调，而编码捕光复合体II的主要天线蛋白基因表达下调；结合受侵染叶片细胞中叶绿素a含量不受影响而叶绿素b含量急剧下降，并且基粒垛叠层数减少，表明植物细胞可通过调控叶绿素循环来维持叶绿素a的稳定，并且减少光系统II的效率，降低病毒侵染对宿主细胞产生的影响。该研究不仅阐明了双生病毒感病导致木薯叶片褪绿病症产生的原因，而且表明病毒对光系统的非致死影响是其避免宿主剧烈免疫反应的一种策略，是病原与宿主长期共进化的结果。
