Hohhot potato presents a development pattern of the entire industry chain

In recent years, Hohhot City has adhered to systematic and high-quality cultivation, standardized planting, refined and deepened processing, diversified storage, high-end research and development, and brand marketing, basically forming a development pattern of "planting potatoes, processing potatoes, and fresh potatoes" and "scientific research, planting, processing, cellar storage, and sales".

Actively implementing supportive policies, Hohhot City has allocated over 100 million yuan in subsidies to encourage potato cultivation from 2023 to 2024 alone. At the same time, a subsidy for crop rotation was introduced, with a subsidy of 1.95 million yuan for potato rotation.

Pay attention to breeding high-quality seeds and focus on developing the potato industry. This year, relying on the existing Xufeng and four other seed production enterprises, Hohhot City has implemented a seed production area of 12285 acres, with an expected yield of 3680 kilograms per unit. Compared with last year, the seed production area has expanded by 5385 acres, and the yield has increased by about 1000 kilograms.

Based on regional advantages, enhance the level of large-scale planting. At present, five standardized potato planting bases have been established in Wuchuan County, fully implementing technologies such as water and fertilizer integration and green prevention and control, and steadily building a standardized planting system. According to the plan for green, high-quality, and efficient development of potatoes, 150 commodity potato production bases, 10 seed potato bases, and 40 organic potato planting bases have been built in Wuchuan County.

Strengthen project construction and promote project production and efficiency. Saihan District relies on simple farming technology and digital planting technology to establish a green, high-yield, and efficient potato demonstration area, using a growth and health monitoring system to serve growers in planting about 16000 acres. Based on the demonstration action of high-quality and efficient grain increase, Wuchuan County has achieved an average yield of 3800 kilograms per mu and saved costs and increased efficiency by more than 500 yuan in the project area by combining shallow buried drip irrigation water and fertilizer integrated cultivation technology with technologies such as no base fertilizer and digital monitoring and early warning system for potato late blight.

Highlight deep processing and improve marketing system. By relying on leading starch processing enterprises such as Lin Huaou and Wuchuan Potato Yuankang, we aim to enhance the deep processing capability of potatoes. We will focus on promoting the deep processing projects of Potato Yuankang whole powder and French fries, Huaou starch potato starch production line, new juice protein extraction project, and Chuanbao clean vegetable processing. The on-site digestion capacity of potatoes will be increased by 15%, effectively solving problems such as "high yield but low sales, high quality and low price". Simultaneously promote the development of potato "Internet plus" and boost the potato "electric shock Internet access". At present, there are 36 potato e-commerce enterprises in the city.
