苍梧县今年把发展木薯生产作为优势农产品来抓，提出了发展种植木薯10万亩的奋斗目标。2007年4月4日，县委、县政府在沙头镇龙科村大圳组召开全县推广木薯新品种现场会。县委常委、县委办主任罗阳灿、县人大副主任朱李玲、县政府副县长钟元林、县政协副主席黎桂清等县领导参加了现场会。县农业部门、各镇镇长、分管农业副镇长、农业服务中心主任等共50多人参加了现场会，并参观了样板点。
现场会上，县农业局长陀维勇、副局长谢伟文等介绍了引进木薯新品种的种植技术。
县领导要求各镇和农业推广部门要开拓创新，扎实工作，并针对木薯品种老化，产量低等存在问题，用两年时间淘汰劣质品种，引进高产优质木薯新品种，每镇建立一个面积为50亩的镇级样板，通过样板带动，科学种植，精心管理，不断提高木薯的品质和产量，为农业增效、农民增收再作新贡献。
